Becker Animal Hospital was created forty years ago by Dr. Al Becker. It was begun with the premise of offering exceptional veterinary care to the people living in the Near North Suburbs. When Dr. Eric Wagner bought the practice 11 years ago, he continued with the initial premise and added some of his own - exceptional care, high-tech solutions and unconditional love.
Although the neighborhood might have changed slightly in the past forty years, one thing has remained the same - small town, personal, compassionate care for our clients and their pets.
Our Veterinarians
Dr. Eric Wagner
Dr. Eric Wagner received his B.S. in microbiology from the University of Illinois with honors in 1986 and his DVM in 1990. Upon graduation he practiced in Alexandria, VA for two years and returned to Chicago and went into private practice for five years before purchasing Becker Animal Hospital in 1997. He enjoys spending time in Michigan, swimming and golfing.
Dr. George Luke
Dr. George Luke received his DVM from Purdue University. He was a veterinarian in Viet Nam 1968-69, earning a Bronze Star. Dr Luke joined Becker Animal Hospital in 1969. He spends his free time working at his church with youth groups and doing mission work.
Dr. Robert Liebman
Dr. Robert Liebman received his B.S. from the Honors College at Michigan State University and his DVM from the University of Illinois. After working in both private practice and animal control work in Chicago, he joined Becker Animal Hospital in 2002. Interests include computers and science fiction.
Dr. Kathy Ilyukhina
Dr. Kathy received her degree with honors from Moscow State Academy. She worked in Moscow in private practice as an anesthesiologist and critical care specialist. After relocating to the U.S. she worked in private practice for ten years before coming to Becker Animal Hospital in 2007. Interests include reading, swimming and the outdoors.
Dr. Daran Mayer
Dr. Daran Mayer, our relief vet, graduated from State University of New York with a degree in environmental sciences. She received her DVM from Ross University in 1985. She was in private practice for eight years before coming to Becker Animal Hospital in 1993 as our relief veterinarian. When not working Dr Mayer enjoys traveling and being a mom.
